 Oh! Divine Barackness, how great is thy ignorance! The following is a line from the inaugural address;

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Rebuttal: The mere existence of conflict in the world is sufficient proof that the justness of a cause does not produce the emanation of security.  If two sides opposed to each other  were on the precipice of conflict and the president’s assertion was correct then the side whose cause was most just would be victorious regardless of the adequacy or inadequacy of its forces. If the justness of a cause was the ultimate instrument of security then what need have we of armies. If the president’s assertion was correct then the American Revolution would not have been necessary. Freedom and the cause of American liberty would have been bestowed upon us by the mere justice of our cause and without a shot being fired. If the president’s assertion was correct then World War II would never have been fought because Hitler would have realized the self evident justification of the allied cause and retreated from Czechoslovakia in 1939. This part of his speech, among others, is sheer nonsense.  Not only is it nonsense, but it is foolish and dangerous. It is like most of what we know of Obama – beautifully crafted, great story, mellifluous cantor of speech, eventually ending up to mean absolutely nothing. This is silly drivel. Security emanates from the prudent application of superior force (diplomatic, military and economic). The justness of a cause can only rally men’s hearts and bolster their resolve to continue the fight. It is the sad truth of humanity that personal sacrifice and the use of force are the mechanisms for carrying that resolve through to victory. And make no mistake, without victory there can be no lasting peace, no true security.

The puzzle of Obama is now clear

 

I have been trying to understand what it is that makes me so uneasy about Barack Obama. I think I have finally put the pieces together. I can’t and won’t vote for Barack Obama.  In these words that follow I share why. I admit that this writing is more anti-Obama than it is pro-McCain. This time around it’s one and the same. Senator McCain is man I admire and his world view is in line with mine. I have every reason to vote for Senator McCain. With that said I feel the need to speak out against Senator Obama because I do not believe the full picture of this man has been revealed. I try to do some of that here. I hope you too will come to see Obama in the same light and come to the conclusion that he should not be President of this great nation.

Obama admits in his own writing that he is very much a product of the 60’s. I believe he feels he was born too late to take part in the anti-capitalist counter culture movement of that time but still maintained a longing for that era that carried him into adulthood. When the young man set out to find himself and to define himself he gravitated toward radicals like William Ayres,  Bernadine Dohrn, Jeremiah Wright, and Frank Marshall Davis who all took him under their wings.  

Ayres was a violent anti-capitalist, anti-government radical who in the 60’s participated, as a leader of a group called the Weather Underground, in the bombings of the Pentagon, the Capitol, and the New York City Police Headquarters. He still believes that they should have done more violence. Ayres’ wife Bernadine Dohrn was a fellow member with Ayres in the Weather Underground. Obama’s wife worked with Dohrn at a Chicago law firm.   Neither Ayres nor Dohrn has wavered from their beliefs. The Obama’s are very close, too close to people like Ayres and Dohrn. Importantly, Ayres is from a family prominent and influential in Chicago politics, and sponsored Obama’s arrival on the Chicago political stage.  

Reverend Jeremiah Wright is the very recent pastor of Obama’s church. This church preaches Black Liberation Theology. This theology began in South America as a means of fighting for social justice in Catholic communities. Based on a Marxist class-struggle model, the goal of Liberation Theology is the redistribution of wealth in order to raise the economic standards of the poor. Because of its Marxist leanings the Catholic Church distanced itself from the teachings of Liberation Theology. This theology was eventually adopted in the African-American inner cities of America, in churches like Trinity Church where Barak Obama attended services for decades. Obama took the title of his book “The Audacity of Hope” from one of Wright’s sermons. Wright is a spiritual guide, mentor, and close friend of Obama.

During his high school years in Hawaii Barack Obama befriended a man by the name of Frank Marshall Davis (a man referred to simply as “Frank” in Obama’s book “Dreams from My Father”). Until the day he died, Davis was an admitted communist and member of the Communist Party USA.   He was Obama’s mentor in his formative years and who admonished Obama before heading off to college not to "start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that sh*t."   Perhaps this is why Wright’s preaching resonated with Obama. Maybe this is why Obama so admired Reverend Wright’s preaching that he named a book after his sermon. Maybe it is why a now famous line from that sermon, may have resonated with Obama – “It is this world…where white folks’ greed runs a world in need”.

In order to befriend, work with and remain close to people like this he must share a similar view of the world. It is human nature that we associate with like-minded people. Obama owes his blindingly fast political rise to these people. I do not claim that Barak Obama is a terrorist and he is not complicit in the actions of Ayres and Dohrn. It is apparent that he is not a hateful demagogue like Wright. He is however a Marxist of similar mind. His campaign is soaked in the class warfare rhetoric of Marxism. It is beautifully wrapped in the language of Hope and Change and “fairness” but his policies bear out the truth; that he would implement to the fullest extent his Marxist tendencies. His policies cannot cover up this fact. Barak Obama’s world view is contrary to the best principles of this country. The election of Obama would begin the unraveling of the principles so beautifully enshrined in our Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The truth, in my mind, is that the trajectory of Barack Obama’s life from his upbringing, to his education to his adult life has brought him into the company of people with views of America that are completely opposite from the intent of its founding. He has befriended people who believe that America is guilty of heinous injustice and that it must be made to atone for these sins by tearing down its fundamental structure and replacing it with something entirely different – he calls it fundamental Change. What is that change? In light of his world view I must assume that to Barack Obama change means giving this nation a more Marxist attitude. So what? Well, we spent 40 years opposing the world’s most voracious Marxist empire - the Soviet Union. As a nation we have a revulsion against this world view yet millions of Americans are poised to elect a man whose policies will have the same effect.

There are millions of Americans who have worked hard and been successful and become “rich”. According to Barack Obama these people must be made to pay for that success in order to provide the “poor” with a better life rather than empowering and assisting the poor to utilize their God-given talents to work toward a better life. This is Marxism and it simultaneously removes the incentive for hard work from both the top and bottom of the economic ladder. Why would a “poor” person work hard to improve their life if the government provides for all of their needs. Why would a “rich” person continue to create and invest wealth if they will have the fruits of their labor confiscated? Beyond that, why would a family need a father if the government is the provider? Why would we need God if we no longer have to face adversity and personal struggle?   Government has the potential to replace family, community and even God. Socialist Europe is an example – beautiful, ancient and empty churches. 

It is not selfish or greedy to want to enjoy the rewards of your own labor. It is selfish and greedy to want to reap the benefits of someone else’s labor.   Yet this is Obama’s view. This is the language he uses. As he said to “Joe” the plumber, “it’s not that I want to punish your success, it’s just that I believe that when you spread the wealth around [meaning your hard earned personal property] it’s good for everybody”. He said it in such a casual way that he must believe it at his very core. Redistribution is a core value of Barack Obama. He was raised and mentored and groomed on the idea that fairness in America requires making evil rich people pay because they are, as a class, guilty of the exploitation of the poor. These are Barack Obama’s roots, and to me they are un-American. He is preaching envy, a mortal sin, and encouraging people to covet the possessions of neighbors.  

This nation was founded on the principles of hard work, individual liberty, freedom from the arbitrary tyranny of the government and protection by law of personal property – including a person’s accumulated wealth. The Declaration of Independence speaks of the “pursuit of happiness” as an inalienable right not the receipt of happiness. We are a nation of laws so that all people have the equal opportunity to achieve success by their own efforts, not to guarantee the equality of outcomes with no effort.   I say “by their own efforts” because God saw fit to give each of us a yearning for self improvement and personal achievement empowers the individual.   Yet the guarantee of equality of result is what Obama is after. He wants to go beyond a fair taxation to support the essential functions of the government. The only way to achieve this is to use the government and its bureaucratic power to subvert individual liberty with the purpose of confiscating personal property. Individuals have the ability to put their own money to productive uses – charity, investment, economic growth. Governments, bureaucracies, have only the ability to put people’s money to unproductive uses. Governments do not grow economies, only people do. This was proven in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Why would we take one step in that direction?

I am not rich. I have no wealth to protect. Perhaps I would benefit from Obama’s plans, but only to a point. I would only be able to reach a certain level of success and achievement until it becomes punishable by Obama’s America. But I believe with all of my heart that I, we all, have more to lose from his beliefs than we have to gain.   It may feel great to stick it to the rich and the corporations, but what you give away to participate in that orgy is beyond measure. Life is a struggle for us all. I have two jobs to try and make ends meet and my wife works just as hard. But I don’t want to be taken care of by my government. I am not afraid to face my tribulations. In addition to my God given abilities I have my family, my community and my God to see me through. Freedom is struggle. My freedom is my struggle. For if you do not have to provide for your own life than someone else is giving it to you and you are the slave beholden to the master. My political idol once said that “the man who has nothing which he cares about more than his personal safety is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself”. If you are made and kept free by another then you are not truly free. Do not be one who is made and kept by Obama’s government. If you vote Obama you will give him the power to strengthen the government’s hold and influence over your own life. You will advance the soft tyranny of bureaucracy and, as Obama knows, the way you snuff the life out of liberty and capitalism is to impose bureaucratic processes on the people. Maybe his intentions are good, but his intentions are very wrong. 

From the founding days of this nation there have been millions who have pledge their lives, their liberty and their sacred honor to defend the American legacy. That legacy means something, still, to me.  It does not mean expanding the role of government over the lives of the individual. As a nation we have fought, and many have died, to ensure this would not happen. It is about to happen, not by force, but by the submission and acquiescence of the American people. Two hundred thirty-two years of resistance to the ascendance of government could be voluntarily wiped out on Tuesday, November 4th if enough people vote for Barack Obama. I will not be one of them. The American Revolution, the revolution to free all of mankind, still burns in my heart. Please join me in continuing the fight. Please join me in voting for John McCain for President. If you can’t vote for John McCain, then vote for someone else or no one at all, just do not vote for Barack Obama.
